Looking through the catalog I noticed that a lot of the items in the catalogs, (S1, Southwind passenger cars, 10-wheelers, light mikados, etc) are labeled as "new".  Does this mean new tooling or are these updated version of a perviously released model.

Also, does any know if the S1 will have chuffing for each set of drivers?  Perhaps @Dave Olson can chime in on this.  Thank you all!

It doesn't mean new tooling unless it says new tooling.  If it's just listed as new, it usually means new graphics (on previously used tooling).

Yes. If you look at the listings in any Lionel catalog, virtually every single item is labelled "New." As Stu says, it only means it isn't exactly like a previous version, because it has different graphics. I suppose it's a marketing thing - the "New" is meant to generate interest and excitement because the item hasn't been done exactly that way before, and to call viewers' attention to it.
