Lionel has come out with their scale 30k gallon ethanol tank cars that can be easily converted to 2 rail. Initially when Lionel first made these tank cars a 2 rail conversion took lots of prayer and a miracle.
Here's the good and bad.
1. NWSL 36" wheels can be installed using the current truck.
2. Atlas 100 ton trucks fit perfectly if you have to use them.
3. This car is very prototypical in features and appearances
Bad news:
1. The weight is a little too lite. Atlas's 25,000 gallon tank cars are more prototypical in weight.
2. The corner end steps are too thick compared to the prototype.
Lastly I will give Lionel a B plus on this 30 k gallon tank car. I will buy 2 more. These cars are just as good as Athearn's. I had 3 of theirs so I should know.
