Quick question about Lionel standard gauge. Are all the 342E sets known as a 'Baby State Set' or is the nickname only for the two-tone brown one?

No, There are two different "sets" that are brown "State" sets. The "Baby" state set has an engine that is 0-4-0 #318E. The State engine #408E is an 0-4-4-0 and is much larger (although both fit on standard gauge track). There is a misconception that "Baby" state means it's "O" Gauge. It is NOT! The passenger cars are different as well. The "baby" state set #309, 310 & 312 cars only have 6 windows and are much shorter. The State set #332, 339, 341 have 9 windows and are longer.
Only the brown set, which was identical in color to the big dog, paint named State Brown. The same set in green was Pea Green and never painted in State Green.
