Lionel 440C Panel Board wiring question

Hi, I'm rather new to this all so I hope this is posted in the correct place - quick question - I was given two Lionel 440c's and one Tinplate Tradition 440c panel boards. Question may seem basic- but will they work on other bridges and signals other then the 440? I have the 440c's but no 440s. Seems to me the wiring fundamentals should be the same on a MTH Pennsy for example, or other signal bridges, but again, I'm a newbie. I'm reading all I can on wiring and asking a lot of questions! Any advice appreciated.
