How does this particular locomotive operate? Just comparing to Rail King GG-1. Rail King has sounds and traction tires. The Lionel has Magne traction and No sounds! Plus no traction tires to change/fuss with. Thanks Tom Weaver

Lionel's 18303 requires an inordinate amount of power to pull the 19100-19106 Amtrak passenger car set also offered in 1989 (talking full throttle @ 180 watts on 18-foot FasTrack loop). Sold mine (with full disclosure to the buyer) and, given a redo, would not buy it again. Although I never have owned the RailKing 30-5130-1 with flywheel equipped motors and all the other features the 18303 lacks, it seems to be a much better choice between the two in my humble, Lionel-first opinion.

Thanks for info! Since I "Run Trains" the Loco with better pulling power would be something I'm looking for. Looking at
https://mthtrains.com/30-2506. or 2507. both are PS 2 but should serve me ok. You may have read my thread on K-line GG-1 with power truck frames that self destructed! so looking for alternate!
Have you considered Williams? I've had good results from them in the past...
