Lionel 6-29897 Chessie Security car with searchlight.

Hi, I need some help with my Lionel 6-29897 security car. There is some type of electrical issue that causes the security car light to flash which also causes any engines on the layout and the FastTrack power track indicator to flash as well. There is a switch on the bottom of the car which turns on the search light feature . If I switch the searchlight to "off" the flashing stops and I can run the trains normally.
