My Mikado Jr is consistently derailing when crossing the switch from the stem (short) end of the Y. The front wheels are slipping into the groove that the moveable rail snaps into (see video). The other directions are fine.
Maybe I am misunderstanding. The wheels are well aligned until they encounter the small groove that the sliding part of the track fits into when the switch is in the position to divert the train down the curved section of the switch.
Just looked at the engine entering the switch and the center rail track seems to stick up a little bit, with my experience in 022 switches that can cause an engine to lift up a little and possibly derail. All rails must be the same height or you may have problems.
You are right about the center rail being a little proud relative to the outside rails. That said, nothing is in contact with it when the front track collapses in
