Lionel 6-82102 Lumberjack are getting lazy

I have had 6-82102 since new the first time i used it would only work well on 16 + volts. Then it got to the point were it would slow up. I used some lube on the gears seemed to help. Now recently not matter how much i crank my voltage it dosent work. Always been a slow accessory Is this normal for this? Any one have a fix?
