I purchased a nice A-B-A set of PRR units that have not been run for about ten years. So I need to do some scrubbing on the old grease, etc. I can see the single screw OK in the front, but can't believe that the tiny screws holding on the steps are the "back ones." Are the tabs that I can see what holds the frame in? Also, what is the lever on the bottom of the fuel cell for. (E unit?) Thanks in advance.

Remove screw, lift front of cab about 1", slide cab forward releasing the 2353-22 spring clips from the rear of the frame.
Rob is right on the shell removal. However, to grease the gears (after removing the shell) you should remove the phillips screw from the bottom of each truck. This will release the motor from the truck and reveal the worm gear on the motor and the gearbox in the truck. Remove all the old grease and replace with new (Labelle 106, Red N Tacky #2 or whatever). You will also want to use a light oil on the armature (hole in the top of the brush plate and the bearing right above the worm gear) and on the axle bushings.

Thanks so much. We had heavy snow today and our doctor is ill, so she cancelled our appointments for tomorrow. (Can't go to Menards for the box either.) So I'll take the unit down to the clock shop and use my son-in-laws hi-class and light weight lubricants and get her running smoothly again.
