Thanks Kooljock1, that video was a good help, my smoke unit seems to be stuck in the shell by all the excess smoke residue.
Kooljock1,
Thanks for the instructional video. It provides a good step by step approach in disassembling this highly reliable but complex locomotive. However, one word of caution for the uninitiated; reassembly might be a tad difficult if you just spread out all of the screws, rods and eccentric cranks on a table in random fashion as the video shows. I have opened the shell on several of these locos and to this day I make sure I separate the moving parts piece by piece by piece so I know exactly where they go in reassembly. I guess I must be memory challenged because on my first attempt I did exactly what the video showed and spread the moving parts randomly on my work bench and I had one tough time getting it back together again. Taking a photo before disassembly would be a good idea or drawing a rough sketch with notations would be another. For most this might be overkill but if you haven't done it before it would be worth the effort.
that's why I just remove the eccentric screw and leave the rods in place.

Good advice Steamer. Next 675/2025 up I will take that approach.
I've also just pulled the steamchest ...you'll figure out what works best for you.I've got three 675/2025/2035s. I don't find them any harder to tear down than any other steamer I have.
