How about some version of the following:

Small, modern (quiet!) can motors (3), same look - you can even use the excellent but way over-scale PW tooling

for the basic unit (lotsa room). Manual boom lift screw retained; one motor on an axle for propulsion; one motor to rotate cab;

one motor to lift/lower cable/hook. Really easier engineering than the PW "gearbox".

Command control - movement/rotation/cable; no cruise (low gearing a must - and prototypical); no sound; dummy couplers (like original); pulls 2 cars, max.

Maybe an LED light.

Price range of the command-control Trackmobile.

I'll mail you my check; just let me know.

The pulling ability max is to keep the little crane in the real world - they pulled very

few cars - and the motor could be very small (and out of the way and less costly).

You would want your "big" motor on the cable/hook.

On the TMCC wreck crane comments:

I realize that the TMCC wreck crane is a beautiful piece - a friend has one and I have

seen it operate several times - but I had something a little more "relaxed" in its

presentation and complication. My friend's crane has been troublesome, a bit, and I

find the sound a little tiresome - so we could save some money for those of us who like things with a little less show business.

The Burro is even oversized and would be a cross between a model and a handsome toy,

just like the original iteration of it. The real Burro cranes are quite small, as RR equipment goes - this surprised me when I saw one in the flesh a few years ago.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in this. My work is done here. Checkbook at

the ready.
