This loco is about 25 years old and is one of my favorites. It recently derailed then shortly after somehow derailed again and the right eccentric crank had actually broken at the tip causing the rod to fall down and be bent by the running gear. Checked with Jeff at the Train Tender, the part is No. 29 on the Lionel schematic listing for $12.50, but is NOT available from Lionel. This is the full size engine which is basically a Pennsy E-8 in Santa Fe scheme, engine number is 1485. I did not witness the wreck but it was at carpet level. I run a fine scale seasonal carpet operation.

I have a letter in to Lionel hoping they have a stash of parts and can fix her up. Barring that, any suggestions? Btw new member here. 67, photo of me was taken on Memorial Day. First trainset the Lionel ATSF F-3 streamliner set, age 5.

Hi Griff. I may be able to help. I have the pennsylvania unit with the left crank broken. Before you do anything make sure you can remove the crank screw. I couldn't. I had to cut a slot into it to remove it. If you get it apart let me know. I'll send you the engine and you can have the part you need. If you want to keep the entire engine send me 75 bucks. It's been upgraded with TAS EOB.

Wow...

Thanks so much! Wow! Do you want to wait till see what Lionel says!? If your engine runs I would certainly take it get that part, then to run without the full valve gear for my grandson. Let me give you my office phone number: (817) 335-9440. Call me at your convenience, I am in the office all day tomorrow except noon 12-1:30. Whoopee!
