Hi everyone,

The Brass Mikados are now in. I wanted to share some pictures of the painted/lettered version. The high level of detail mixed with the great paint job really makes this loco stand out. These will be shipping out from Lionel between the end of this week and the next week.

Happy Holidays!

This is a very nice looking locomotive.

I've got one question: Is that a red LED where the tender's back-up light should be, or is it just a trick of the digital camera and light?

Rusty

It’s such a detailed looking model, wonder if the 3222 number boards by the bell light up? I can see that this Brass/Hybrid technology potentially could open up a new market for us fellow Modelers  wanting more realistic looking engines for our layouts.  The detailing is definitely top box.....This, with the addition of great sounds, Legacy/Bluetooth operable is a step forward.  Thank you Lionel

I seen Eric's video, but is that the whistle being used or different in this engine?

That's the final whistle.

I dont want this left on the porch without knowing when its there.

Can you or will Lionel email shipping info so I can arrange to be there when it arrives?

You'll have to contact support to ask. I don't handle the shipping portion. talktous@lionel.com

The backup light is red per the prototype.

The number boards do not light up per the prototype.

That seems a bit unusual. How would the engine crew see ahead (when backing up) with a red "back-up light"? I've need heard of that. Maybe a Santa Fe expert will chime in on this, i.e. "Number 90".

Again, hard to believe that the Santa Fe would go to all the trouble to mount number boxes, and then not have them illuminated for night visibility from stations and interlocking towers. Maybe "Number 90" can help with this also.

As added information, those same style number boxes on Santa Fe 4-8-4 #3751 are indeed lighted.

Well, to clarify, the 3160 class didn't really have a backup light. It had a red marker. We originally had an ATSF style backup light in the design, but removed it when all the prototype photos showed it didn't have it.

OK, that sounds more logical, i.e. that the rear (red) light on the tender would be showing red to the rear, when the locomotive is operating light in the forward direction, such as in helper/pusher service.
