I have a Lionel "Baby" 8000 series Hudson, circa 2000ish, with TMCC. It's been the staple Christmas Tree motive power for most of it's existence. In been on the bench since Christmas, waiting for a new smoke resistor. Completing that task ( I forgot how well the 'puffer" unit worked on this...) I have two questions/issues.
First, the can motor has an appreciable hum/buzz, more so at slower speeds. It has had it for a few years, perhaps getting louder, but that is subjective to memory. I lubed everything, including the motor bearings, with no improvement. I know most of these motors make some noise, but this is particularly noticeable. Any thoughts?
Second, it works fine in TMCC, but when I tried in conventional (to see if this would have an effect on th motor noise), and nothing. The lights came on, but nothing else. Put the 104E-unit in and she works fine (but still with hum/buzz). Put the R2LC back in and no conventional operation. Thoughts?
Thanks,
-Jim
