Anybody know what this box held? I think it originally held train or switches or ? when I purchased same.

It's about 6 1/4 X 11 1/2 X 12 1/4 with little lion logo and "An Investment in Happiness" and large

"Lionel Trains" on flaps. I can't find it on the internet.

Thanks,  Wally

I believe the "X" means an outfit and the 675 could mean part of a series of Sears sets:

602  - 602 Seaboard switcher, possibly Sears

610  - 610 diesel Sears 49NU9601

627  - 627 diesel Sears 49N9668

628 -  628 diesel Sears 79N09602

637 -  2-6-4 loco Sears 79N09642

681 -  681 Loco Sears 79N09673T

See Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains, Volume II, 1988, pages 20 and 21.

I would guess 675 is part of the Sears series.

If your box is of a basket weave design, the X600 series would take you to 1958 and probably a general retailer outfit. From your dimensions, a single tier box which would have contained a starter outfit, probably unboxed using cardboard dividers to separate the contents. The X600 numbering system was repeated in 1961 with a different box design. Good hunting for its exact contents.
