I have a RS-3 Santa Fe # 6-84697 that just stops running. Headlight stays on (bright) , engine sounds still work. Wheels are not spinning. If I push train - it works again. What could be the cause of this ? and how could I fix this problem ? Art
It sounds like you might have a small dead spot in the track from a short, loss of connectivity or voltage loss.
I'd measure voltage along the track to make sure it is consistent, especially at those two spots. You may need to tighten or re-set the track and/or add a power drop(s).
I purchased a Lionel Chief 4-6-6-4 that did not run. The can motor mounting screw loosened to the point the gears did not mesh anymore. Tightened both can motor mounting screws and it runs great.
