Having some time today in between meetings, I converted a couple Lionel 3R cars to 2R... The first one is a CN Cylindrical Covered Hopper using Atlas 70-Ton trucks and Kadee 745 Couplers.  I decided to grind down the Lionel bolster to allow a more prototypical ride height and allow the Kadee Draft Gear Box to be at the correct height without any shims.   I used the Atlas screws to attach the trucks without any modification to the bolster holes.   I drilled and tapped 2-56 holes to mount the Kadee 745 couplers.   Once I weather the car and bring the car into the paint shop, I will paint the exposed metal but it should give you an idea of how much metal I took off the Lionel bolster.
