The new 2017 AF S Gauge catalog is adding to the LionChief/FlyerChief control system confusion. The S-Gauge PA's description states that their version of LionChief will have self-sensing DCC control capability, but makes no mention of them being BlueTooth compatible. In the same catalog, the upcoming FlyerChief Geeps are stated to be BlueTooth compatible but no mention is made concerning DCC. The currently available (sort of) 4-8-4 Northerns are now known to be BlueTooth capable, but will they also run on DCC as well, or are they strictly FlyerChief and BlueTooth only? Lionel wants us all to pre-order these, but without knowing what their capabilities are, how can we? In the past, even when new items were clearly stated to have certain features in the catalog, when they finally arrived months or even years later, it turns out that some of the stated features clearly were not there, so even when the new catalog shows something, can we really trust Lionel to follow through? Since they are already out in the mainstream can anyone who has one of the new AFL 4-8-4's report back whether they have the self-sensing DCC feature too, or is that a feature only to be found on the upcoming PA's? Perhaps Bill Clark can tell us?
