Lionel GG1 W/ Legacy

Can anyone help? I just put my Lionel GG! (scale) w/TMCC on the track after a long nap in my display case. it ran fine the last time out, but now it will not respond to its Engine ID number, or to the reset sequenced spelled out in the manual.I also tried giving it a new number, still no response. Does anyone have any suggestions?
