Hi,
Looking for some help here. I have a Lionel GN GP9 (Lionel 28865) and the horn for the loco works on my KW Transformer that I replaced the copper disk with a Diode on but not on my new ZW that claims to have the disks replaced with diodes. My 763 Whistle tender works just fine with the ZW but not the horn for the GP9? Any thoughts?

Try only moving the whistle lever half way. Otherwise the diode that was replaced is opposite polarity of what is needed for electronic horns.
Thanks, I just figured that out by interpreting another older thread. Yes, the trick on the ZW is to only push the whistle lever up about 2/3 way and slowly and then the horn sounds pretty regularly.
I'm loving my reacquaintance with Lionel O Gauge trains after a 40 year break and working in NScale for most of that time. The old Lionel stuff is a whole lot of fun!
