I went to run my Legacy Lionel H10 today. The engine took off at max speed. Tried reseting the engine, no luck. Was fine when I last ran it. Any ideas as to what I should look at?

If the tach sensor fails, they normally only go a few feet before they figure it out and stop. If it continues, I'd suspect maybe a shorted FET on the RCMC if this is the new Legacy model.
Is your Legacy Command signal making it to the H10?
Good point Rick, that would be an easy solution. 
Would also try a reset...

Rick, The commands are getting to the H10. Whistle, bell, smoke up and down, etc. Speed and direction aren't working. It is the new H10.
If it responds to the 990 remote for some, could it be the remote? Will it run in conventional mode?
Sounds like an RCMC failure if direction isn't reversing the direction and turning on the backup light on the tender.
Obviously, this assumes that the system runs other Legacy stuff without issue.
It is the only legacy engine I own. All my others are TMCC. They all work fine. I have a CAB 1l and the CAB 2, using the CAB 2 base. Neither works. I will swap out the base with the 1L base and see if it makes a difference.
