hello

i have the lionel hobby shop with three trains that run inside i have not used this in about 4 years and i got it out today and the trains will only run a couple of secends the stop and restat and so on i see nothing on how to lubercate this or maintaine it and one have this problem it worked fine when i moved  and took it off the lay out or any help on how to take it apart to lubercate it i don't want to break anything it sounds like it need lubercated

i took the hobby shop apart and found that the small gear for the center lay out was cracked i supper glued it back but dont know if it will hold and not aviable from lionel  and the intermminent problem was the motor the wires were not attached good and were shorting out the motor the wires are to short to resoulder back and of course lionel dose not have a replacement i maybe able to get a electronics person to solder the wires i will check i can only see them with a magnifing glass

thanks for the replays. uncle al i don't know if there is any info on lubrication of this unit but while i have it apart i plan on lubricating it with labelle 106 grease with ptfe it is compatible with plastic there are a lot of screws to take out of the bottom and on the two side lay outs one each on top i plan on lubircating everything that turns but not  the belts. i hope i can get the motor rewirerd becouse i cant find one so maybe awhile before i can fix it

Hi Keven, I have not been able to find anything out as far as lubrication on this item, and when I saw your post thought I would join in and ask as well! There are quite a few folks on here with lots of experience, maybe someone will chime in, if not, would you give me an update on how you fared with your project.

hello uncle al my email is kwisor@sc.rr.com if you can email me i will send you photos of it apart and where i will be lubercating it i am not able to post photos to the site i still usr xp i  think that is why also dave thanks for the idea i am unable to open the link to the wire digaim but i am afaid to try to fix the wires thay are close to the motor and so small for me to see with out a magnifying glass that i will only make it worse that is why i will be looking to get a eletronics person to look at

here are some photos if it apart the gear did not hold will have to find one photo 1 remove building screws from bottom,photo2 with center train removed remove screw from bottom,photo3 small gear broken, do not remove gear box unless needed wires to motor may break very hard to fix, remove screw to take layout cover off, photo 7 remove screw from back to take layout cover off one each side, photo 8 lift off rear pulley to grease it, last photo lift up frt pulley to grease it do not need to take off so belt will stay on was able to post photos with wife computer

Hi Kevin!

 

Your instructions and photos are just wonderful! This is exactly what I needed to complete the repairs on my hobby shop! Were you able to reconnect the motor leads? Now you also need a gear, perhaps someone here who does work with small gears can point you to a source... Thank you again so very much!
