I went to change a traction tire on this engine (what a PITA) and found I had to remove many of the screws holding the side rods on. As luck would have it , one of the screws fell into the engine and would not come out, requiring me to disassemble it to get it. A quick search on the internet didn’t bring anything up on how to take this apart, so I ended up pulling out way more screw than needed. I was surprised how different the disassembly was than my Class A.
I thought others might be interested in the specific screws and hardware removal needed to be taken out.
ON THE FRONT-Two screws toward the front of the boiler are required to be removed as show below.
ON THE BACK- The two screws towards the back by the cab need to be removed along with pulling just the bottom of grab railings leading up to cab from the cab casting as shown below.
Once the above screws are removed, be careful to lift the cab/boiler and not have the loose railings scratch things as they are lifted up. Once disassembled, it looks like below.
On a side note, I found the instruction manual comical in telling you where to grease. It points to a grease port (which does exist on the engine) that does not service any gears, and no mention of the transmission casings for adding grease to worm gear assembly.
Thanks!
Mike
