Has anyone ever successfully reattached the spring on cars with the Kinematic couplers?

Yes but it is a pain in the…. I aligned the hook/loop on the wheel truck and used very fine point tweezers to pull the spring back to it to attach. Took several tries and extra power reading glasses to see it.

Pretty much how I do it. I moved the mechanism inboard on 22 cars (to close the gap) and cut the spring to compensate so had to reattach it 44 times. Not that bad when you get the knack.

I got mine back together by dismantling the truck to expose the truck hoop. To keep the spring in place I used a small piece of duct tape to keep it in place while I attached the other end to the coupler shank. Using the tape was the answer, only took about an hour to fix. Deciding to take the truck apart was my solution.
