I unplug the Command base when the battery is charged on the hand held unit because it feels warm. I am not sure if the base is over charging the battery, should the base be unplugged? is there a certain procedure to follow concerning the base unit being plugged in?

The CAB2 just gets pretty warm in the #990 base, the way it works. That's the reason I don't charge my CAB2's in the #990, I use a #993 charging base instead.

I do the same as John, and it works for me as well!!

I don't use the 990 base to recharge the batteries either. Too many issues. Turned it off, put electrical tape over the contacts and use an external charger.
