Received my Y6B (6-82340) yesterday back from a warranty repair for a noisy motor. The return letter frome the technician states that the motor mount was bent and was replaced.

My question is it supposed to be this loose and sloppy for drivetrain angles/alignment or securely mounted with the screws tightened? (Video attached)

The reason I opened it up this morning was it was also repaired for an occasional short (only at very slow speeds) at an incline transition on the layout. Letter states an LED was touching itself but when I did a test run yesterday one of the Ashpan lights is out, which is what I'm looking into now.

Ok found out that the top of the LED was broken off apparently against the chassis.  As if you were slicing off the rounded end with a knife to make it flat.  (Pic attached )

Can I replace this with a standard LED or get the Lionel part?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to all.

I hear ya John but I guess I forgot to mention it was compared to the original 3 other bulbs. Plus it doesn't light up which would further conclude it's broken. I went on Lionel's site and ordered the new part (680-2340-288)(691-CN12-502) which also shows rounded ends  PC board with all ashpan LEDs attached

I know this is still under warranty but as far as already owned units are concerned I am doing my own repairs from here on out. Haven't had the best of luck lately.

What a shame!  I dont care what anyone says.

Lionel service was never as good as it was during Mike Reagans early days at the helm.

I even had an issue fixed on an out of warranty nos non-vision Loco and Lionel even paid for the return shipping.

Now the folks who think Lionel is doing us a big favor making trains will chime in.

Or my favorite quote,"you just expected incorrectly".

I think Lionel must be sneaking rose colored glasses, or at the very least, blinders into some of the boxes.

I've never had anything o Guage with the can motor just laying loosely in the chassis like that.

Good luck. If it were mine I'd send it to Alex M. Or Marty F.

Yeah it's frustrating to say the least. Second unit back from warranty within a week of each other and basically came back in the same state from when they were shipped out. Ok so minus one PC board which was replaced and light damage from shipping.

I am perfectly confident in doing my own work/repairs but for lack of a better term it just plain sucks to add $ on top of something that already costs a significant amount and is still under warranty. I don't want to start a mud slinging post but I've lost confidence in their repair work and to me this is just incompetence.

I own my own business in the mechanical field and if I did repeat repairs like this my customers would be using someone else. And there lies my answer going forward unless significant improvements are made.

On a lighter note I'm going to run trains , grab a beer, play with the dogs, and listen to some music.

Everyone have a safe weekend and once again Merry Christmas
