I have a Lionel Legacy ES 44AC Lehigh Valley model # 6-38952.

I placed it on the track the other day and when I press the rear coupler to open on the Legacy remote, the coupler doesn't open, but the sound does work like it is opening.

Has anyone out there had a similar issue and what does it take to fix it?

I use a Lionel powerhouse to power the track. The locomotive is not under warranty.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank You

Mark

First off, touch the coupler knuckle while you activate it and see if you feel anything like it's trying to open. One thing that's never a bad idea is an engine reset, reprogram the locomotive ID# and see if that helps.

To see if it can open mechanically, you can use a very thin bladed screwdriver and press in the cavity to release the plunger, it could just be stuck or sticky.

If we get much farther, it requires taking something apart.
