For some reason my original posts have disappeared...
I wanted to thank the people who responded to my questions about the Lionel Legacy Meteor with the melted smoke units and also those that directed me to Lionel's parts sale (which occurred at a most opportune time).
Both smoke units, as well as the RCMC board have been replaced. I am not a tech so it took me a few hours of slow, but pleasant work yesterday.
I tested the locomotive this morning-it runs well, both smoke units work as they should, and the cab light is no longer flashing.
I would not have known to replace the RCMC board as well as the smoke units without the help of this forum.
