I have two of the Lionel Legacy L&N GP9's and am wondering if Lionel missed with its choice of the grey they chose. It is my understanding that the grey L&N used was called Confederate grey, yet the Lionel grey seems more like a light blue.

Did L&N use a light shade of blue on some of their diesels?

The Lionel locomotives are the wrong color. They are blue or blue-ish. The road

did not have light blue locos, but the L&N did indeed use a Confederate gray; the gray and yellow were meant to echo the uniforms of the army of the CSA. I considered a Lionel L&N GP-9 briefly, as I remember the paint scheme quite well. But, not being a diesel guy so much, and not being a GM diesel guy so much, that wrong color put the nail in the coffin.

Weaver, though, gets the L&N Confederate gray right (maybe since Weaver is located not TOO awfully far from Gettysburg...?).

I hated to pass it up, really; I always like to support the production of items relating to my native South.
