Lionel legacy mikado smoke fan problem

I would say get one. Lionel will stand by there product. 

Can someone else please reply to this topic? I'm really considering getting one, but this issue is worrying me about not getting one. Can someone just tell me if this issue is common, can it be fixed by the user? Thanks, just please reply!

If you want to void the warranty then you might be able to fix it with parts purchased at Lionel.  Or you can send it in for warranty repair for the cost of one way shipping.  It's that easy.

Matt,  I just acquired one of these and it worked great for about a week. Now it has this problem too. Three blinks and no smoke. Have tried several resets to no avail.Funny thing is that the smoke works great for a few moments and then quits.

I posted here for advice but am sending her back to Lionel.

The builders plates are in so they can install that while its there too!

Thanks Marty, I appreciate it. But do you know if this issue is common or rare? I heard it can be fixed by reseting the mikado, is this true? And, do you know how long it takes for Lionel to fix it and get it back to you? Final question, if you send it to Lionel, and they fix it, will it happen ever again? I'm really sorry for asking so many questions, but you know, if I do get one of these Lionel legacy mikados, it will be my first ever Lionel legacy engine. Thanks again.

I don't know how common it is.  I have a Texas that did the same thing.  It went back and all has been well.  A reset will cure it sometimes.  Turnaround time for Lionel is about as fast as it comes.  Most likely less than a week and a half.  Whether it will happen again?  I don't know.  Mine is still good after 3 weeks.
