thanks
Marty,
Count me in.
Marty, I'll take part
My remarks:
- I propose a new engine type, pusher' or 'helper' for a dummy engine with sound such as an AC6000 super bass engine that is part of a lash up at the end of train as pusher or helper and can show the end of train light applying the front or back light of that engine.
-Applying the combination Legacy motor control and sound RS with the Legacy utilit, the ramp up and down should be automatically done by turning the red knob.
-I have Legacy engines DD35A and GP9 with the newer sound boards in a lash up. Applying horns or communications, not only the head engine does sound, but all in this lash up involved engines with newer soundboards sound with horn or cummunication together when activated; I guess that is not intended.
Regards
Albrecht
I'll be there.
I have 31 folks listed as coming. Looking forward to seeing you all there. We will solicit questions until this Friday! That give Jon Z and the gang about 2 weeks to go over them.
Marty,
Wish i was going to be there!! The last time I was there was when I did the PRESENTATION for Jon on the V1.3 Upgrade when he got married in HAWAII!!! It was great fun!
I wonder how many will have their "LUG NUTS T-Shirts" on this year!
Maybe next year,
Fred
P.S. I thought the Base Unit was only used to access the Computer. How did I know the Power had to be on? It does not say a word about it in the instructions! I'll bet I was not the only one to do that. I had to move my BASE Unit from the Basement to the 2nd floor. Not thinking to bring the Power Unit!!
(LOL at myself)
Fred
All questions and comments are welcomed. We'll submit the list to Jon about 2 weeks before the meet.
I'm running out of numbers.... Are there any plans to move to 3 Digits or should I just stop buying new Lionel engines and accessories?
Don this was covered at the last LUG meeting. Currently it is a hardware limitation. But I will ask if there has been any change in this?
In light of the recent 3rd party iPad app for TMCC, can Lionel share any insight to an App from them to control TMCC or Legacy

Fred, gonna miss ya this York. BTW: and now I have a 1 year old daughter, gotta keep the funnel primed with new engineers!
We have some really great tech to show folks this York, Dr ZW's lab has been busy!
Several folks have sent me links to the "3rd party iPad app". My only comment is that only Lionel has the unlock key to send Legacy class commands to the locomotives. And there are literally hundreds of commands beyond the published TMCC serial port access.
We have demonstrated the kind of information we can get from the Legacy system with the LSU program. Just imagine what we have to offer ... oops almost said too much
Does that mean you are coming out to York this year Jon?
JON,
Congratulations, I had no idea!!!
Remember, if there is anything I can do to HELP you with "New Projects", let me know. I truly enjoyed working with you on V1.3 I'm in Omaha now and Vice President of the "Nebraska-Iowa Model Railroad Club". We have 106 Members and cover the whole Gamit from N Scale to G scale. Would you believe I'm the only one using "LEGACY". I'm trying to push it!! I have three fellows on the edge!!
My new E-Mail address is: fstanda@cox.net If there is ANYTHING at all I can help you with!!!
Sincerely,
Fred
Marty,
My wife Judy and I wil be there.
Alex
BTW, tomorrow is the cut off for questions only. So if you have anything post it!
I plan on being there!
I am planning to attend.
Doug
Marty,
This may be a little late but in my opinion what the Legacy system needs that would make it much better is the ability to build new Legacy Commands by chaining together Legacy command sequences and assigning them to an Icon. The sequences would need to record both the commands and the timing of the commands much the same as the record function does now. This would open up a world of possibilities. It might be worth planting a seed for this functionality at the Users Group Meeting.
Regards,
Don
Don
Are you talking about something like a macro? Maybe 3 or 4 "memory slots" that could store a series of Legacy commands such as 3 horn blast, a bell ring and then a speed set?
Just want to see if this is correct thinking. Could these be assigned to any ENG address or just specifics. I would almost think it would have to be universal to all if it were on this order. I'll pass that along as I am finalizing the list to go out.
Marty,
Yes - like a macro on your PC.
I’ll take the functionality any way I can get it but I was thinking it would be nice to add Icons to the menus representing a string of commands, i.e. water injector, 5 second wait, blow down, 3 second wait, Whistle, Whistle, 2 second wait, tower com, bell, roll , etc. - stored as an icon for that engine. For accessories you could create an icon that would release three milk cans or 5 ice cubes, etc. Even if it had to be done through a new Cab 2 (Cab 3) with more memory and functionality I think it would be worth it.
Don
Marty,
Please add two more to the list. Myself and my wife. Thanks.
-Brian & Ruth Jensen
Please add Dennis Skinner
OK gang got the answers back from Dr. ZW (JonZ). Looks like there wasn't a whole bunch but we did pass along everything we had.
We might even have a surprise or 2. See ya Friday!
Marty if folks have the Black Module will there be someone to add the 1.4 update so they can update there Legacy system at home.
We will have LSU and 1.4 with us. You will need 2 black modules so that we can make both a CAB and Base module. Personally we won't make 'em but will be very happy to walk anyone through the process so that when they leave they will have the latest software. This way when the next version comes out you are familiar with the process and can do it yourself and get the benefits of the new software ASAP.
If you were doing this at home with your base and CAB2 on hand you'd only need (1) black module.
So if you want system software please bring (2) black modules. We will check them on my base and Cab to make sure they work before you leave.
I won't leave until everyone who wants to play with LSU, get system upgrades, or the what have you has done so. I have no pressing need to be at the meet at 9. But the meeting will officially end at 8:45am.
Agenda posted as a pdf in the first post of this thread! Please print out a copy as we will only have a handful at the meeting.

Bring 2
I just want to thank Will,Marty and Chris for starting and continuing this meet!!
Hope everyone has a great time and gets a peak at the next level and lets the rest of us in on it!
Thanks again guys, Doug
My dad and I are two late additions. We will see everyone in the morning
I'll also be a late edition. See you all in the morning.
Since the cat is out of the bag on 1.5, we will be showing this and hi-lighting the features.
Has anything been posted on this meeting of the LUGs ? For those of us who did not attend YORK.
Not yet. I just got home.
Lots of good information from Mike Reagan. Got a look at the Cab1L and some info on the 1.5 update.
Thanks Marty. I can and will wait. Thanks for doing all of this for us in the midwest.
Answers and summary will be up tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
If there are any question regarding the information provided please contact talktous@lionel.com and I am sure they can clarify the information.
Summary up in first post!
What more can you tell us about the IR sensor that hasn’t already been discussed.
>> That would take a long time, the entire Lionel Layout Control Ecosystem is complicated, and the IR track is only part of the picture. Maybe best covered at the show?
Was this covered at the show? What was said about it?
I want one of those cab2 belts Mike is wearing.

Legacy Questions for the October 2012 LUG meeting.
Jon Z's answers in RED
and related,
>> All new product announcements are now presented via the Lionel Blog. I agree some control from the computer/tablet would be great, as evidenced by my iPhone demo a couple of years ago. We are planning to go forward with the IR Sensor track.
>> Each new version of the Legacy Operating System has provided incremental improvements in the radio drivers. We have to live with the Legacy System hardware and the crowded 2.4G frequency spectrum; however we regularly evaluate how to improve the range and reliability. When V1.5 Legacy Operating System is available, the radio driver changes will improve the range.
>> This has been covered; we tried for a year to get MAC OS to run a version of LSU. This effort also delayed the Windows version of the LSU program release as well, which was disheartening. The basic issue is that the intrinsic serial port driver in MAC OS does not have useable hardware flow control, which is required. It is possible to run windows software on a MAC in an emulation mode to program black modules.
>> At the York show, Lionel will demo this product, so I won’t say anymore than I have posted on the OGR forum. Sorry.
>> The RS sound system operation works differently than the Legacy Sound system operation. The RPM ramps are controlled by the CAB2 in Legacy mode, and by the RailSounds software in TMCC mode. Mixing and matching the selections are possible with LSU if so desired, with some limitations in operation.
>> We have tried to duplicate this concern in our shop many times without success. If someone can give me the exact sequence they used creating the train; we may find out how this happens. In V1.5 we allow individual control of sounds over each loco in a Train. To a degree, this concern is mitigated, as you can set as many horns active (or inactive) as you wish.
>> We are limited by 7 bits of address in the protocol, 99 is the limit via our remotes and this will NEVER change. (note: 127 are possible with computer control).
>> That would take a long time, the entire Lionel Layout Control Ecosystem is complicated, and the IR track is only part of the picture. Maybe best covered at the show?
Product Suggestions or suggestions from the forum.
>> This exists. We have a mini board with 2 coupler control available via Electric RR. The Mini Commander is one option, the other is smaller (about ½ the size of a Mini) - and for folks who contact Electric RR, we can provide the details.
>> huh? New card game? Since this is a product request it is better to be handled through Talk to Us or Lionel's Facebook Page.
>> ONLY Lionel Marketing makes product decisions. I am sorry I can’t help in this area, but please forward your ideas to the “TalkToUs” emails address.
>> Thanks for the suggestion; I will keep it in mind for future Legacy System updates.
Some other info brought up...
A nice crowd!
Mike Reagan entertains and answers questions. Fastest draw in the west!
Mike really does love Elliot.
Some weirdo.
