I have no idea which forum this should be posted in but thought folks here might be interested.

The things one learns. Was searching eBay for Lionel Linex storage tanks and came upon this:

VINTAGE-LINEX-STEREO-CAMERA-MADE-BY-LIONEL-GOOD

Lionel made this camera from '53 to '56. It used a proprietary film cartridge with 16mm color film in it.

Through the years Lionel made many toy products other than model trains. They made slot car sets, science sets/kits, phonographs, fishing reels, a beautiful working children's toy stove, an Erector type building set, the camera mentioned here and when they acquired Porter, Chemistry sets.  AFAIK most of the items other than model trans didn't sell very well. I have one of the Lionel Erector sets and its very similar to the AC Gilbert sets.

Stereo cameras were popular in the 50's. Stereo color slides could be viewed in a device like the commercial view master and gave three dimensional images.

Ya, I have my dad's collection of Kodak stereo pics. The camera used standard 35mm color film which had to be processed by Kodak such that each pair was mounted in a stereo mount for insertion in a Kodak viewer. I also have his camera which is only of sentimental value.
