Most things beyond conventional running elude me so far.

I have a time limited opportunity to purchase one with what appears to be a wireless remote.  I'm running two layouts (conventional) with one ZW.  The layout/train I would run this on has an EXTREME grade.

Will this engine and remote 'maintain' a constant, dialed in, speed up and down my grade with the use of the remote?

Thanks - Ponz

ps - sorry I'm so uninformed

If you're running a ridiculous grade (as I have on part of my layout) you may not want to pull a heavy consist because it will be more likely to rip the traction tires off of the wheel.

I have a LC+ Pacific that will maintain its speed on this grade, but I keep the load pretty light.  It's a very good consistent puller.

This sounds like the PRR Berkshire from the Alleheny Hauler higher end starter set from about 2 years ago, which is regular Lionchief, not plus and thus does not have the built in speed control.  But, depending on the size and weight of the train, which is probably light on steep grades, I would think that a die cast berkshire would manage well.  The Pennsy never ran a berkshire type, and that matters to me, otherwise I would probably have gone after this set.  So I can't say for sure. Also, I wish Lionel would make these type of locomotives with front couplers, so they could be used for some simple operations and lend them selves less to loop running.
