I acquired a Polar Express 10 year anniversary set that had some flood damage and didn’t realize at the time, this engine is Lionchief so I can’t run it with a conventional transformer. Is my only way of running it by getting a universal Lionchief remote? I’m not even sure if the engine works…

At one time the very earliest Lionchief stuff didn't work with the Universal Remote but I think this has since been addressed and corrected.

If so you should be able to use the Universal Remote to test out your purchase.

On the other hand you'll also be able to buy a replacement for the dedicated remote that originally came with it, assuming Lionel still has service stock.  Check lionelsupport.com.

You'll need the Lionel Product Number for your locomotive though in order to conduct the search if you go this way.

Thanks for the reply. Sadly Lionel no longer has the remote in stock.
