Out of curiousity I Googled Lionel LLC today and there was a website that had a little info on the Lionel company. In 2008 they estimated the toy train business at $70 million a year and Lionel had 40%  or $28 million.   That was 7 years ago plus inflation dollars but gives you some idea of the market. Don't know if that includes HO, N, G and the others. really not a big pie to slice it 20 or more ways.

Those were numbers in the bankruptcy filing and are estimates. The market share was estimated at 60%. if you think about Lionel's product line, it is primarily O gauge. That is only Lionel's estimated slice of the pie.

The entire model train market will be much larger.

You'll never get the exact sales revenue as model train companies are privately held as Lionel, LLC. is owned. The investment group thinks the cash flow and profit margin are enough to continue to own the Lionel brand.
