I have a log conveyor that was working well and then it got sluggish and now it tries to start but it freezes up. I'm thinking I need to clean/service the motor? Took off the back and removed the fly wheel and tested the motor without a load. But got nothing. Any suggestions welcome. And Merry Christmas Trainers!

The 364 seems to need a lot of power. I run mine with a PowerHouse PowerMaster combo with a Cab 1.

Susan, that is really helpful. Merry Christmas!
Success. Followed the plan - hardest part was getting the spring back on. A couple of welts on my finger to prove it...Thanks all.

Reviving an old thread, but @Susan Deats's help was right on the money. I got a 364 from a Stout Auction a few months back that I just got around to reviving. When I powered it up, the motor area started smoking. Susan's guide on taking it apart and putting it back together was invaluable.
Here is the gearbox with 50+ years of grease gelification. The manufacturing must have used the adage 'if one glob of grease is good, 10 must be better'.

The way the motor and gearbox are oriented, the oil/grease from the gearbox flows into the motor and soaks the armature and brushes. Common problem.
