any known / common 'fixes' for the pump circuit... the voltage regulator and switching transistor working... not sure about the timer... pump will work when voltage is applied directly to the solenoid, but of course it stays energized as the timer was by passed not allowing the interruption of power. The light circuit works confirming the power supply is good but there is no ON / OFF voltage to the solenoid... THANKS, Jay

If the timer is an 8 pin chip (555 timer), I replaced one of these on a non-working oil derrick (Marathon, 6-12902 from mid-90's) quite a few years back. Maybe there were a batch of 555 timer chips with some sort of issue (infant mortality?).
A catalog # would help to know exactly what you have. I'm guessing with the reference to transistor regulators and timers it's something made since the MPC era.

THANKS... I've got some 555 chips, so will give that a try... just was hoping for something less to un-solder, but I am encouraged that may be it. That was going to be my next attempt anyway as everything else appears to be functioning... THANKS Again, Jay
