any known / common 'fixes' for the pump circuit... the voltage regulator and switching transistor working... not sure about the timer... pump will work when voltage is applied directly to the solenoid, but of course it stays energized as the timer was by passed not allowing the interruption of power.  The light circuit works confirming the power supply is good but there is no ON / OFF voltage to the solenoid... If the timer is an 8 pin chip (555 timer), I replaced one of these on a non-working oil derrick (Marathon, 6-12902 from mid-90's) quite a few years back.  Maybe there were a batch of 555 timer chips with some sort of issue (infant mortality?).

A catalog # would help to know exactly what you have.  I'm guessing with the reference to transistor regulators and timers it's something made since the MPC era.
