This is probably already known by many here. But...this old dog learned a new trick. I have been putting together a few Lionel heavyweight sets, one car at a time.
It's kind of a train show quest. You can find sets galore ...but, then there's always a used stray car or two , missing a truck, no box, scratched, a baggage or sleeper. (much cheaper way to put together a set)
It took a little searching on the net and in a few old catalogues to find out what type of cars , car names like "Niagra Falls", what car numbers , what came in the original catalogue car set.
What cars came in the two car add-on sets. What is the catalogue/part# 6-xxxxxx of each car.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE
Click on replacement parts. Then type in "heavyweight", or "streamline" in the search box, enter and BADA BING BADA BOOM
Every heavyweight or streamline set. Their car part numbers, car names and numbers....and...as intended by Lionel..view the individual parts for repair if needed.
Yea I know..pretty obvious. Like I said I'm an old dog, but not the only one in this pack. (I've seen posts asking what cars came in what sets. What are the set numbers for a specific set. How many sets were produced for ??? Road name. When was this set made?)
Hope this post helps.
