They just raised the price from $199.
Still a great price for someone wanting one for Christmas.

The Polar Express sets that don't sell at Christmas for $200+ get marked down bigtime by the big retail chains for day-after- **** blowout sales. I picked one up at my local Macy's a few days after the **** for $100- if it's not a Christmas gift that would be the perfect time to get one.

Is "x mas" a bad word?
Geno
Yes... very bad. So is ****, ****, ****, and others. Please refrain.
There is a common misconception that the word stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas". The term, a popular shortened form of the word "Christmas" that originates from the use of the Greek letter chi to represent "Christ" (Χριστός, Xristos), has been a particular topic of controversy among Christians unfamiliar with the historical roots of the term.
Rob,
Thanks for the info- good to know. I consider myself a Christian and celebrate the birth of Christ twice a week at worship service, but was always curious about the origin of the shortening of the word "Christmas".

Frankly, I think the language filter on this board is a bit overblown.

Great reply. The webmaster is particularly sensitive about this issue. He also seems sensitive about the discussion so if this disappears, that is probably why.
Consider yourself a guest in Rich Melvin's house. His house, his rules. It's that simple.

They are hard to find at blowout prices. Our Macy's did not blow out the train sets. They were somehow "returned" to somewhere else. I think it depends on the store.
