Does anyone know if there is a rattle can equivalent to Lionel’s light blue paint? This is color used on the 2430 and 2431 passenger cars as well as a few other items.
Personally, I prefer Tamiya; this manufacturer produces a nice selection of blue options. Of course, if applying to metal, various primers would be required before spraying the paint to your metal surface.
Michaels (art & craft stores) might also have a potential "rattle" solution, good luck.
I like to use rust-oleum spray paint. The attached photo is a painted car I have done using rust-oleum, with tamiya for the window inserts. Rust-0leum has a few shade of blue. If you can bring the blue car with you to store to match as close. I’m using their burgundy and satin cinnamon to restore the roofs on a tinplate set and match is perfect. I also use an automotive primer spray first. Even though their new versions 2x have primer mixed in. Have fun
You might also look at the Vallejo line of paints, they have a huge selection of colors, they even come premixed for airbrushing. Great paints. I believe you can go to Vallejo.com and look for paint charts, this would give you a good idea as to what might come close. I also agree about the Tamiya line of paints too. They are excellent also. I believe that they too have a set of paint charts on line. Best of luck.
