I have their 180 watt Powerhouse on order to use as direct input into an MTH TIU fixed channel for one of my son's slowly expanding layout.  We have the MTH adapter cable that connects an MTH brick to banana plugs on the other end.  I don't run TMCC/Legacy, and this will be our first experience with the Powerhouse brick.

I am not sure of what connector is on the end of the Powerhouse cable.  Will it directly plug into my MTH adapter cable for TIU connection, or is their an additional conversion adapter I will need to use the Powerhouse without snipping wires and soldering?  If so, I would like to have the Lionel part number.

Thank you.

Sounds straight-forward enough - I have a couple sets of good banana plugs I haven't used, one is a dual plug, but brass/gold in color - will have to scratch "B" and "R" in ends so I don't forget.  Ribbed-to-black .... will note on my calendar so I don't forget.  Powerhouse on backorder 'til late December.  Don't really need it before then.

Thank you Mike.

I have no problem cutting the end and adding banana plugs as stated, but also like to explore all options.

  • Thanks.  Didn't see a "search" function on their site - guess I'll have to call to check availability and price.

  • Thanks.  Went to Molex site, but since I've never seen a Powerhouse let alone have a clue on the connector needed for that end of a cable, I struck out.  Does it have a name?
