I picked up a Lionel prewar 1688 at the last Greenberg show. It needs the pickup shoe assembly that appears to snap in on the bottom (looks like 4 tabs each side of frame). Maybe the assembly and pickup shoes are separate, but I need both. Can someone provide part number(s) and a good place I might find the parts needed?

I'll be interested to hear of your technique for replacement. I Have a 1664 that needs a similar repair.

I don't know if you've replaced these before but I always file down the tabs a little to go into the slots a little easier and I use a medium set of snap ring pliers to spread the frame. Hope that helps.
