I'm having a issue with this steamer. The motor is really noisy and I can't figure out why. It's so loud I can hear it over the sound system. A video of just the engine is attached.

Sounds like gear noise. Have you put any grease in the gearbox?
I also heard a squeal at the end, what about lubing the drive rod pivots and axle bushings located between the chassis and the rear of each wheel?

I haven't done that, I probably should add some grease to it. Do I need to open up the shell or can just remove a screw to grease it like on MTH engines. I oiled the engine a few weeks ago, I probably will hit it again.
Remove the "grease screw" and add grease just like MTH.
I believe MTH recommends .5 -1.0 ml of grease which is a good reference if you have a syringe with measurements on it.
Every locomotive I buy gets a full lube and grease before it hits the rails, even if its brand new and supposedly "lubed at the factory. I've found my newer stuff lacking grease out of the box.
Cool. I will do that. I just started making this sound a few weeks ago though, should I be worried about it? I was running this engine with 7 MTH premier Madison cars then this sound happened.
Grease it and see what happens, I've had locos with some gear noise cured by grease.
FWIW I use Lucas red n tacky # 2. Its fairly popular around here if you aren't already aware.

Sounds good, I'll do it and report back.
I just repaired a Legacy locomotive tonight that was doing the exact same thing.
It was the universal between the gear box and motor. Some of Lionel s are too short and the will travel out of the receiver. Greasing them makes it worse. They tend to travel more. I pulled the universal out and packed the receivers with a small ball off double sided sticky tape to eliminate the longitudinal slack. Balance the spacing of the universal so the fittings stay in the slots of the receivers. You should be good to go.
I take it I have to pull the shell and take the motor off to do that, correct?
No need for that. Theres no universal joint in that loco. Being so short, the motor sits in the chassis vertical like a diesel. Try the grease in the gearbox.

You got it, Rick. I'll give it some grease.
