I'm trying to wire a lionel remote control/uncoupling track for fixed voltage to operate the milk car.  The rest of the track is realtrax.  I've wired the #3 terminal wire to fixed voltage. No luck. I've wired the #1 terminal to fixed voltage and the milk car works except so does the train. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure the train is in neutral first!!  Around 10volts should be good.  You have to make sure the UCS track is isolated from the other track if you want to use fixed voltage from another transformer.  If not the voltage will feed the normal track too.

The milk car is one of the best accessories!

pioneerhilly,

This 1954 manual may help. Use page 40 for fixed voltage wiring (note there are two UCS tracks) and then page 35.

Page two of the current manual also shows the fixed voltage wiring. Since you are only powering the center magnet or shoe rails, I don't believe you would need insulated pins for the three primary rails.

wires 1 & 3 or 1 & 4 for older track and 1 & 4 for new version (like 6019 old) 12-14 volts

Thanks a lot--the help is much appreciated.  Finally trying to get started on a layout.
