Is there any sort of benchmark or standard as to how many sensor tracks you should install on a layout? Can't find anything at Lionel or on the Internet. Thanks!
Not really. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
My thought is to have one at the entrance and one at the exit of my yard, on both side of crossings, and near the front of the layout for programming and random recordings. I imagine when done I might have about 8.
Great advice Marty! I will start with the yard in and out and see. The challenge is my layout is Lionel tubular so now I need two converter tracks per sensor so it gets costly.
Rick, Look at these links to save some money on fitter and transition pieces. Just have to buy one 10 inch straight and you can make several transitions with O scale track pins.
