Lionel service bulletin to fix Hiawatha #4

Jeff...this was moved to the appropriate forum catagory since it is a modern Lionel specific topic.

My #4 is in transit. I already sent an email to L. Response in a nutshell: we ain't interested. That was my 2 cents.

Is this for the new Hiawatha Legacy Atlantic? Is it for all the roadnames or just the MR? What exactly needs to be done?

If you have a MARs light and a headlight they are swapped.  If don't have both nothing to see here.

To you asking about the new Hiawathas from Lionel. The engine #4 is the only Milwaukee Road engine offered with the mars light. The other engines, #1 #2 do not have the mars lights. As far as the lights are concerned, the headlight oscillates and the mars light stays on. The mars light should be the light that oscillates and headlight is a steady beam.

Also the #4 does not have whistle steam, but has the safety pops version with steam and pop off sounds which I really like. None of the Hiawathas in real life ever had a steam whistle, only an air horn. So the #4 is still a great choice.

Well I certainly didn't expect to hear Lionel say they aren't interested.

I should also mention that the mars light should be a red lens. So some of the guys are fixing that as well as the headlight problem on their own.

Hoping to pick up my #4 in the near future.

I've updated mine.  Definitely looks better.

I was hoping you might join in!  This is how the engine should look with the correct operating headlight and mars light. Excellent!  And going one step further...someone mentioned that you can actually turn off the mars light with the Legacy system. That's even better!!
