Lionel Service Station Fire Rescue Set (6-21753) ????? and Help

The siren needs command control to activate (AUX9). The only thing you can activate without TMCC is diesel horn and bell (and diesel motor sounds, of course).

The answer provided above is correct: the siren can only be operated via TMCC.

I have a couple of these. I believe that that horn and bell can be activated in conventional. That the light will always flash on the firecar. The Siren most likely will not be available.

In Command light can activated with siren or siren and light at the same time.

A whistle and bell button is needed for activation....in conventional.

I have one and the siren drives me nuts after about 30 seconds! 

I'm resurrecting this thread because I recently purchased a sealed set.  My question is whether the fire car is command controlled, i.e., forward/reverse/speed?

The FireCar set has a LCRU2 Command reverse unit located in the Training/support car with a tethered connection to the fire car.

I have a similar set (no. 11918, New York Central) with additional water tank car, ladder car, searchlight car and First Aid work caboose. It's a lot of fun, especially with the TMCC, and sounds and flashing lights on the fire car and other cars, and popular with visitors. I'm a little surprised these sets aren't mentioned and shown more often. IMHO it's certainly worth getting at least a Cab 1 TMCC set (used ones are fairly inexpensive) to run the set properly and enjoy all the features.
