Lionel Tin Box, question.

Me too. But I forgot what came in it!

I got mine from my mom.  It came empty.  Now it holds all my old manuals and old layout plans and a box of track screws apparently.  Hadn’t opened it up for a while.  Maybe I should use it for a cookie jar, mine isn’t big enough!

I have two watches, the one on the right(bottom) is actually a very expensive movement by Bulova the left one is well....bot so much. I have no idea were the lunch box came from. Sorry about the video inverted.

Popcorn came in the larger tin can.

Coulda had popcorn in it.  She prob gave that to my nieces and gave me the empty tin.  Pretty much sums it up…

I have two of the large ones.  One stores only my many bottles of smoke fluid.  The other, miscellaneous train parts.  I also have the matching Alco engine.

Many years ago wife bought me the large tin - there was nothing in it.  I also have the Lionel Train watch which ThatGuy posted.  I also have a very unique watch.  This came from from one of our venders.  Unfortunately it was such a good copy of the Jaeger-LaCoultre Reverso that we would have been sued.  The first Reverso was produced in 1931 and, I think, that is why the vendor chose the 20th Century Limited logo.  Regardless, I am grateful.  While we were never going to produce it, everyone knew about me and trains, so that sent it down to me.  I now have a unique one-of-a-kind watch.  Yes, it does work.

If I recall and don't hold me to it but I believe that container came with plastic wrapped cookies.

I have one along with a NASCAR tin. They came empty as they were just storage boxes. Purchased them from a small variety store.

Lionel sent those out their accounts in December of 2000, filled with popcorn as already stated. (the large box).

If they came with mint cookies, you could open the box, eat one, close the box and still say they’re mint in the original box.

First clue, nothing that is sold as a collectable actually is. BTW, Anyone want to buy some Lionel snow globes?

Dick Kughn stopped by my table and took an interest in a sealed box I had priced at $20. He got it for 10 bucks plus a signed boxcar from Lou Redman at another sawbuck. Unfortunately he passed a couple months later. I expect that box went to about $40. And the boxcar maybe $60. No disrespect to Dick who was a wonderful gentleman and fun to talk to but that is my best explanation of how "collectible" works.
