Same motor as the hobby shop and dozens and dozens of the same type of accessory.

Buy in bulk, buy early, buy often......

FWIW, was just dealing with his exact one last night. That is a common pancake motor.

  • Voltage 5V; Rated Speed: 6000RPM; Wire Length : 11cm/4.3";

I know first had the above motors work.

Lionel does not list the dimensions but searching all motors, I found this.

this one from Tug-of-war may also work- but $12

The motor for this wonderful accessory (6-24168) is gone.  It is not pictured on the Lionel website of parts for this item.  Half of them are "unavailable" anyway.  My local hobby shop has dozens of motors.  What kind do I need to replace my broken motor?

Well, as it happens, I'm trying to troubleshoot my sample of that piece (long story), but if it helps, here's a pic of the motor in place, with the cover off:

In any event, good luck!

It's a Mabuchi RF-300C-11440. The 11440 is the most common Lionel used, but other final digit sets indicate other specs of motors of the same physical footprint.

Here's a partial chart of some of the various options for the RF-400 motor family-

https://catalog.miniscience.com/motors/RF300CA.php

I found that, if you think the accessory runs a hair fast, the RF-300CA-12350 draws a lower current at the same voltage, runs a hair slower (on a rotating accessory, the motor turned the accessory every 19 seconds vs the RF-300C-11440 doing so every 15 seconds), and is rated with higher stall currents and stall torque.

If, however, you're pleased with the accessory's operation, try the -11440 and go from there.
