Update: Switched oddysey back on today to find it works,so now if I could get smoke back it would be a miracle, well maybe thats a stretch.

I'd still check the flywheel and the connectors, it's likely to stop working at any time. I had one that the magnetic ring was loose but not broken. It would run fine for a spell, then suddenly take off like a rocket! When I checked, the magnetic ring was simply loose. I glued it back in place, and so far it's happy.
